The company's robotic microscope Knife Edge Scanning Microscope (KESM) brings together elements of machine vision, automated serial sectioning, micro-machining and advanced optics, it slices the tissue samples very precisely, it's system then derives 10,000 slices from each tissue sample and then uses machine vision to generate a digital, 3-D spatial map which researchers can review and explore on a screen, providing scientists with a better view and more comprehensive data set from any given tissue sample.
